A Red Silk Thread
Synopsis:
In the Imperial Palace of Chang’an sits Princess Hua at her carving desk working on another figurine. It’s been ten years of boredom and monotony. Reading from the palace library, creating her little statues, and playing ball with little Xiaosheng (her only bright light).
Her father offered her up to the Han dynasty as a gift to keep his government position. At one time, she desired this. She had a crush on the handsome Prince Qian, another gift to the Imperial family. Now, here they were, husband and wife. But he was more like a brother to her.
In Rome, Alexander, one of Emperor Augustus’s palace guards, is struggling between his grief over the loss of his family and the romantic entanglements he finds himself in.
The Chinese Emperor has decreed that the princess and her husband will be envoys to that other empire far to the west. Hua could not be more happy. Finally! An escape from these suffocating walls!
Their guides have warned them that the journey is perilous. Many dangers await.
But the most dangerous will be found in each other’s eyes. Love.
